Referrals and Fees
Rebates
To claim a rebate under the Better Access Initiative through Medicare, you will need to obtain a referral from your General Practitioner (GP). If you meet criteria your GP will complete a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and write a referral letter. With this plan, you will be able to access up to ten psychology sessions per calendar year.
Please send a copy of your referral letter to the clinic prior to your first session. Please make sure your GP addresses the letter to the psychologist you want to see and notes the number of sessions they are releasing. You will not be able to claim a rebate if we do not have a copy of your referral letter.
A report is required to be completed and sent to your GP at sessions six and ten. You will need to attend a second GP appointment after your sixth session to receive a referral letter to release the remaining four sessions.
Private Health: If you are not claiming under Medicare and have a private health fund you can submit your therapy receipts to your provider.
Fees
The Australian Psychological Society recommends a fee of $311 per 46-50 min therapy session with a registered psychologist.
At Grove, pricing will depend on the clinician and service being offered. You can expect fees for a 46-50 min session to range from $175-265. Our goal is to provide accessible care. If you have concerns about fees, please bring them to your clinician's attention.
