Individual Therapy
-
Individual psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy used to treat a wide range of concerns (e.g., depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, emotional difficulties, identity development, stigma and discrimination, addiction, relational distress, etc.). At its core, individual therapy aims to develop and strengthen insight, connection, compassion, resilience, and emotional self-awareness.
Sessions are typically 46-50 minutes in length. We recommend that sessions start on a weekly basis to ensure you get the most out of therapy and to help speed up progress. The style and approach to individual psychotherapy will vary depending on your psychologist’s training and background. Common styles of research and evidence-based therapies include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). At Grove, we pride ourselves on tailoring our approach to therapy to meet your individual needs, as we believe that treatment is not a one-size-fits-all model. During your initial session, your psychologist will work with you to develop a treatment plan unique to your needs and presenting concerns. We currently offer both in-person and virtual therapy sessions. A virtual format is available for those unable to attend the clinic or who live far away.

We offer both short-term and long-term individual therapy. Short-term therapy (e.g., around 12-16 weeks) can help target stressful life transitions, challenging decision-making, emotion dysregulation, and acute mood symptoms (e.g., sudden onset of anxiety). Long-term therapy is most effective at addressing long-standing relational patterns and persistent or recurring symptoms. Recommendations regarding the length of treatment will be collaboratively determined with your psychologist during the first few sessions and will be revisited throughout treatment.

No! We are big proponents of preventative therapy, particularly for our younger clients. Building emotion regulation tools and self-awareness early on can help foster resilience and grit. Being able to differentiate, identify, and express our feelings is a valuable and empowering skill set.
Group Therapy
-
Process Group is a type of group therapy that meets on a weekly basis for 90 minutes. The group is led by two psychologists and has anywhere from 4-8 members at a given time. Process group is a space where you can develop your interpersonal awareness, cultivate meaningful relationships, and increase your emotional expression. There is no structure or set topic for group sessions. The group facilitators use connection, dialogue, and introspection to lead the group.
-
Process groups are long-standing groups with no set number of sessions. When you commit to the group, you are expected to attend weekly to get the most out of group therapy. Attendance must be in person.
