Process Group

Weekly on Tuesdays from 12 - 1:30 pm

  • Process Group is a type of group therapy that meets on a weekly basis for 90 minutes. The group is typically led by two psychologists and has anywhere from 4-8 members at a given time.

Process group is a space where you can develop your interpersonal awareness, cultivate meaningful relationships, and increase your emotional expression and vulnerability. There is no structure or set topic for group sessions. The group facilitators use connection, dialogue, and introspection to lead the group.

Interested in seeing what a process group session looks like? We recommend watching the YouTube series “Group” Season 1. Please note that this series portrays a well-established and seasoned group, which allows them to engage in deep conversations and connections.

  • Process groups are long-standing groups with no set number of sessions. When you commit to the group, you are expected to attend weekly to get the most out of group therapy. Attendance must be in person.

Nervous System Regulation Group

Six-week program starting 13th Nov

Thursdays 5:30-7 pm

Bulk Billed - No cost for those who have a mental health care plan!

  • Nervous system dysregulation occurs when the body’s stress response becomes stuck in states of over-activation (fight or flight) or under-activation (freeze or shutdown).

This can show up as anxiety, tension, restlessness, fatigue, numbness, or difficulty calming down after stress. Over time, these patterns can affect mood, sleep, focus, and relationships.

  • This is a six-week, 90-minute structured group providing a holistic approach to managing stress and mood run by Psychologist Melanie Brooks. Clients 18 years old and up welcome.

    Topics include:

    • Week 1: A user’s guide to the nervous system and troubleshooting tips

    • Week 2: Poly Vagal Theory and establishing safety in the body

    • Week 3: Top-down tools to calm the system: thoughts and perceptions

    • Week 4: Breath awareness and breathwork tools to manage stress or activate alertness

    • Week 5: Moving emotions and energy through the body through movement

    • Week 6: Integrating and maintaining self-regulation practice

Each session includes education, group discussion, reflection, and live practice of newly learned skills.

  • Clients who could benefit from this group include those:

    • Struggling to regulate their nervous system

    • Experience difficulty regulating their emotions and would like to learn concrete tools

    • Are easily fatigued and feeling burnt out

    • Have a history of trauma and want to learn how to regain connection to their body

  • This is a time-limited group, currently running for six sessions.

We plan to offer this group multiple times throughout the year and will be introducing a 10-week group starting in January 2026. If the group has already started and you are interested in attending the next one, please reach out to our admin team and ask to be placed on the waitlist.

  • This group program is bulk billed, meaning that you pay nothing out of pocket as long as you have a Mental Health Care Plan.

All you need is a recent (within the last year) mental health care plan from your GP.

*Please note that group therapy rebates are separate from individual therapy. You get 10 groups and 10 individuals each calendar year. If you have already used your 10 individual sessions, you still have 10 group rebates remaining.

If you are not able to access a mental health care plan, the cost is $46 out of pocket per session.
