Louisa is particularly passionate about fostering supportive and healthy relationships as they are a core part of our wellbeing. She works with clients who experience distress arising from current relationships and past experiences to develop awareness of their patterns and foster healthier relationships and communication.

Therapeutic Approach

Louisa primarily works from a relational psychodynamic perspective, while integrating attachment, emotionally focused, and metacognitive approaches to address a client’s unique difficulties and goals. Psychodynamic therapy often involves longer-term, in-depth work aimed at understanding the meaning and origins of current difficulties. It can be particularly beneficial for individuals seeking to understand their inner world, emotions, life experiences, and relationship patterns. Therapy aims to facilitate meaningful shifts in a client’s patterns of thinking, feeling, and their relationship with themselves and others.

Louisa also works with clients experiencing serious mental illness, such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Psychotherapy can complement broader psychiatric treatment by offering support for the social and psychological challenges that often accompany serious mental illness. Louisa provides long-term psychotherapy grounded in Metacognitive Reflection and Insight Therapy (MERIT). This approach involves exploring a client’s experiences to foster a deeper understanding of themselves, others, and relationships which assists in navigating their goals and challenges.

Louisa obtained her Master of Clinical Psychology and honours at QUT and her undergraduate degree at RMIT University. She has experience in both private and public outpatient mental health settings.
