Florencia Ballester

Registered Psychologist

CLIENTS AGES 16 YEARS AND UP

Florencia is a Registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She completed a five-year Psychology degree in Argentina, followed by a postgraduate course in Psychoanalysis with a clinical internship focused on the study of anguish and emotional conflict.

Upon completing her degree, Florencia began travelling and worked remotely with clients in her home country, providing ongoing psychological support across diverse presentations. She began working in Australia three years ago, where she has continued to expand her clinical experience.

Florencia works with adolescents and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds and is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and trauma-informed therapeutic environment. She values approaching each individual with curiosity and respect, recognising the uniqueness of each person’s history and circumstances. Florencia has experience supporting clients through a range of presenting concerns, such as anxiety, mood disorders and phobias, OCD, trauma, psychotic disorders, relational difficulties, anger management, grief, and neurodivergence such as ASD and ADHD.

She has a strong interest in supporting clients who are navigating relationship dissatisfaction and interpersonal challenges as well as those looking to enhance emotional awareness and connection. Her foundational training in psychoanalytic theory informs her interest in exploring unconscious processes, attachment patterns, internal conflicts, and recurring relational themes. In therapy, she supports clients to explore relationship patterns, better understand their attachment style, and reflect on how early experiences may continue to shape current ways of relating. She also values creating space to examine internal contradictions and emotional ambivalence - recognising that it is possible to hold conflicting feelings at the same time. By deepening awareness of these patterns and dynamics, clients can begin to understand whether certain ways of relating feel adaptive or limiting, and move toward more intentional and integrated ways of being.

Alongside her psychodynamic background, Florencia has completed training in Schema Therapy and regularly draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She integrates insight-oriented exploration with practical strategies and skills-based interventions, offering a balanced and collaborative therapeutic process.

Florencia works on Mondays and Tuesdays. She is currently accepting new clients and offers sessions in both English and Spanish.
